RYC Rec Basketball 2025/26 - Winter 2025

If your child’s practice is held at a school, you will not be allowed in the school. School practices are closed to all parents. (District Rules)

Practice days, times, & locations are determined once the teams are picked & based on the coach's schedules

 Rutherford Rec Basketball's Mission:

To provide the children of the community a fun opportunity to learn and appreciate the game of basketball through active participation in practice and competition; to improve athletic ability and game skills; to build confidence and self-esteem; and to better understand teamwork, sportsmanship and respect for others.

• Basketball is Coed for all grades. The boys and girls play together.
• Practices are 2 days a week for an hour for 3rd grade and up. Biddy Ball practices are 1 day a week
• Once a practice location is picked it should not change unless an availability issue arises.
• Open gyms start in Oct/Nov. These are used to evaluate every player’s skill level. 
• Practices usually start in November and games usually start in Dec/Jan.
• If interested in coaching please register yourself as a coach during registration. (Clearances needed)
• Registrations may close early based on availability.
• Biddy ball games use lowered rims. Their games consist of two 15-minute halves with a running clock. (No score is kept)
• 3rd grade and up games, have two 20-minute halves with a running clock. Scores are kept, fouls recorded, travelling, and double dribble is called.

Due to limited gym availability, RYC will not have a Middle School Division this season.
